Roadmap and known gaps
What comes after the beta, and what After Effects does not let any tool do yet.
Added recently
As of version 0.9.8t, 16 October 2026. Each new operation is checked and read back like the rest. The first seven items were added after the Windows test kit ran, so it has not covered them yet.
Long runs, in the panel
For a long brief, the model writes a checklist from your words and builds it item by item, and a job cannot finish while items are open. Each shot of a film brief is designed in its own comp.
Reference images, in the panel
Attach up to 6 PNG, JPEG or WebP images to a request with the + button, paste or drag and drop.
Collect Files and saving the project
Copy a project's footage into a folder and relink it, save the project, save it as, or save the next numbered copy, and start a new project or open another. Image sequences, proxies and fonts are not collected.
Keyframe edits and read-back
Move, scale, copy and delete keyframes across layers and comps, and read back every key with its interpolation, ease and tangents. Source Text keyframes work too.
Effects, layers and compositions
Remove, reorder and copy effects with their keys and expressions, save and apply effect presets, replace a layer's source, resize a solid, centre an anchor, lock a layer, duplicate or open a comp, export a frame, and set comp frame blending and resolution.
Puppet pins by script
Pins are placed at exact positions on any layer and keyed, with no need for the Puppet tool. The layer sits in a carrier comp.
Tracker data, text paths and vector imports
Warp Stabilizer and the 3D Camera Tracker can be started, and existing tracker points become nulls. Text can follow a mask, and .ai, .eps and .pdf files import.
After Effects 2025 on Windows
The full test kit passes on After Effects 25.6.6 and 26.5.0 on Windows. macOS stays on After Effects 2026 until 2025 is measured there.
One-call apply and a build kit for MCP
An MCP client proposes and applies a stage in one call and gets the receipt back. ae_get_build_kit hands it the exact operation shapes a request needs, and approval receipts carry a measured frame.
Rejected batches rolled back and corrected
If After Effects rejects a batch part-way, extynt undoes it and tries a corrected batch. A value that reads back wrong is fixed by a later checked change to the same target.
Track mattes, cameras and lights
A track matte can keep its matte layer visible, and the direction is stated. New cameras and lights land on the comp's axis, not at its corner.
Repeat and scatter in drawings
Repeated marks in a drawing become a real shape Repeater, and scattered marks become seeded copies.
Animated masks and shape paths
Keyframes on mask and shape paths, plus mask mode, inverted masks and RotoBezier.
Expression errors reported back
After setting an expression, extynt evaluates it. If After Effects reports an error, the check fails and the receipt shows it.
Comp markers, work area and motion blur
Composition markers, the work area, motion blur shutter angle and phase, and the 3D renderer, each read back.
Footage interpretation and image sequences
Frame rate conform, alpha mode, looping, pixel aspect and fields on footage, and numbered image sequences imported as one item. Pulldown removal and alpha guessing are included.
Scene cut detection
Find the cuts in a video layer and mark them, split the layer at each cut, or split and precompose each scene.
Render and output settings
Output module format, codec, resize, crop and audio, plus render settings, each read back and reported per field. Channels cannot be set by any tool, so pick an output template with alpha instead.
Project cleanup
Reduce Project, Remove Unused Footage and Consolidate All Footage, with every item removed or merged listed on the receipt.
One-step layer commands
Split Layer, Convert Audio to Keyframes and Create Shapes from Vector Layer or text are one checked operation, and so are Freeze Frame and Time-Reverse Layer.
Keyframe assistants and camera dolly
Sequence layers, wiggle and keyframe thinning are worked out for you, and a camera push-in or pull-out is stated as a distance.
Orbits, starfields and text in drawn scenes
Orbit motion is solved as an arc, and a request for an orbit is only complete when the object travels around the centre. Starfields scatter at seeded positions, sizes and opacities. New text is centred, and text cut by the frame edge is reported as clipped.
A request check before a job finishes
extynt checks that every feature the request names is in the project, and sends the work back when one is missing.
Windows installer, and a sidecar that restarts
A Windows installer, and the plugin starts the helper again if it stops while After Effects is running.
Planned after the beta
No dates yet. Every new operation is checked against your project before it runs and read back after, like the ones today.
Send to Media Encoder
Built for macOS, not yet checked there on real After Effects. On Windows it is refused, because After Effects 26.5 crashed when a plan queued a render in Media Encoder. There, extynt adds the comp to the render queue, and you can send it on with Composition › Add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue.
Job preferences
A short list of preferences that matter for a job, each read back. Not the whole preferences file, because those settings carry into every project.
Known gaps
After Effects only offers these features as interactive tools. They are closed to scripts and plugins, extynt included, and reaching them would take a separate plugin or an outside model. We are considering finding options for these in the future. Until then, extynt tells you when a request needs one of them, rather than pretending.
Roto Brush, Refine Edge and Object Matte
Strokes and propagation exist only as an interactive tool. Nothing outside After Effects can drive the tool itself.
Content-Aware Fill
The fill panel has no way in for scripts or plugins, so no tool can run it.
Motion tracking
Point and planar tracking can only be started by a person in the Tracker panel. Plugins can provide trackers, but cannot start an analysis. Tracks that already exist can become nulls.
Warp Stabilizer and 3D Camera Tracker
extynt can start these analyses and report whether they are still running, but buttons such as Create Camera are only pressed by hand.
Paint and Clone Stamp strokes
Strokes are made only by the paint tools.
Commands that open a dialog
Menu commands such as Auto-trace stop and wait for a person to answer their dialog.
Some effect settings
Gradient colour stops, Lumetri curves and the contents of 3D scenes made in other apps cannot be written by any tool.
