Connect your client

One command for Claude Code, a few lines of config for the rest. No token, port or key to set up.

First install extynt, restart After Effects and sign in once in the panel, under Window › extynt. Until then, tools answer LICENSE_REQUIRED; only ae_status and undo work. After you update extynt, restart your AI app too.

Claude Code

Run this once in a terminal:

The panel has the same command under Settings › Connect an agent, with a copy button. For a single project instead, put this in .mcp.json at the project root:

Claude Desktop

Add the extynt block to ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json on macOS or %APPDATA%\\Claude\\claude_desktop_config.json on Windows, then restart Claude Desktop.

Any other MCP client

Register a stdio server named extynt that runs sh with the path above as its argument on macOS, or cmd with /c and the .cmd path on Windows.

Check it works

Ask your AI to “call ae_status”. It should report your After Effects version and that it is connected. In the panel, Connect an agent switches from Not connected to the time of the last call.
