Writing good requests

Specific requests give better plans.

Say what, where and how much

“Scale the logo from 0 to 100% over 10 frames with a little overshoot” beats “animate the logo”.

Use the words you see in After Effects

Layer, comp and effect names are matched against your project, so use them as they are.

Select first

Selected layers are part of the context. “These layers” means what is selected.

Ask to see it first

Add “show me the plan first” and extynt holds the plan for you, even with auto-apply on.

Show it a frame

The camera button attaches a frame of the active comp, for models that can see images.

Add reference images in the panel

The + button, paste or drag and drop attaches up to 6 PNG, JPEG or WebP images, 5 MB each, as a look to match. Your model must be able to see images.

Go big

Project-wide changes work: “Deep Glow Radius to 60 on every UHD comp”. Long plans apply in steps you can undo one by one.

Long briefs

For a long brief, the model writes a checklist from your words and works through it, and the job is not finished until every item is built or closed with a reason.

New scenes

For something built from scratch, extynt may ask you one question first. It then lays out the scene, checks a frame of the still layout, and only then animates it.

Name every part you want: “a ring that passes behind the planet” or “a glow that wiggles”. Before the job can finish, extynt checks that each named feature is in the project and that nothing is off-frame or clipped. New text is centred unless you say otherwise.

What it cannot do

Some After Effects features cannot be driven by extynt or any other tool: starting a motion track, Roto Brush, Refine Edge and Content-Aware Fill. extynt tells you when a request needs one of these, rather than pretending. See roadmap and known gaps.
